Users needed a VDSL router as well an IPTV-enabled set-top-box with a hard drive recorder, which translates the data stream for the TV and sends the pictures to the screen, if they wanted to use the new Triple-Play-Packet T-Home from T-Online. This service allows access to the Internet, voice communication, and TV-programming via the new VDSL high speed network from T-Com.
digicast identified the technical requirements for both devices on behalf of T-Online. On the basis of project-oriented workshops with participants from various departments, ranging from the development team to product marketing and support, digicast developed two detailed specifications for the router and the set-top-box with approximately 240 features each. These specs were created by T-Online and formed the basis for the RFPs. As a follow up, digicast also supported T-Online with a multi-level evaluation of the received proposals.
